Intended use: cover key visual for a mysterious New Year's evening "Bal Moderne" — a private theatrical play in the Modern (Art Nouveau-inspired) style, contemporary, not historical. A still life of details, no people. Scene: an old worn stone staircase in a dark raw industrial building, seen from the bottom. On the third step lies an elegant half-mask of antique silver with flowing Art Nouveau whiplash curves and tiny pearls, beside it one long black satin opera glove, its fingers draped over the edge of the step. A long ribbon of crimson red silk spills down the steps toward the camera like a river. The top of the staircase disappears into darkness and haze, a thin cold window light far above. Camera: low angle at step level, ARRI Alexa 35, Cooke S7/i 50mm, mask and glove sharp, silk ribbon in the foreground softly blurred. Light: one hard narrow spotlight from above on the mask is the brightest, a deep red glow on the ribbon, light haze in the beam, everything else falls into black. Colour/finish: deep black #0B0B0C, crimson red #D3122A, antique silver, pearl. Fine film grain, crushed blacks, slight vignette. Large empty dark space in the upper 40% for a title. Constraints: no people, no faces, no hands, no text, no logos, no candles, no chandeliers, no Christmas tree, no CGI plastic look, no HDR halos.
